Updated 2012!!!

Check out the updates to the site! All Stats, Equipment, and Schedules are up and ready for you to follow Goggin on the PGA TOUR IN 2012!

Goggin wins again

Two down and one to go. What a great fathers day present, it could only be better if I actually made my flight out of Wichita tonight and got to see my family. I am more than happy to have had to stick around for all of the winners “duties” than catch my flight and go home without the trophy.

It was a bit of a grind today. I hit the ball really well but made some soft bogeys with some suspect chipping, which has been really good lately, I putted well and managed to stay very relaxed on the greens which was the key to winning.

As always I couldn’t have got it done without the support and expertise of Brian, Dale, Jim and Ramsay, thanks guys.

And I can’t forget my awesome family and beautiful wife for all of their love and support.

Lets get number three and say goodbye to the Nationwide tour. (It won’t be for another three weeks as I’m taking some time off)

Peace,

Slack A

Yes I have been slack. My final two rounds of the BMW were nothing to write home about, so I didn’t. I then drove home to Charlotte on Sunday night, went to my kids end of school party for an hour, and then flew out to Dallas for the British Open Qualifier. It was supposed to be thirty-six holes but we had a large storm and a five hour delay so it was cut to only eighteen, annoying as I was thirteen holes through my round and would have been more aggressive if I thought the qualifier would only be eighteen holes.

I missed by a shot, shooting sixty-eight, which was even more annoying than the qualifier being cut short.

Week off at home and then finally a few tournaments in a row.

73, absolute crap….

On a brighter note I checked out my playing partner Javier Colon at the concert tonight. He has a great voice and I think he has a great chance to win the show he is competing on called “The Voice”. If he wins look for his career to explode.

Going low tomorrow….

I’m back at it, blogging that is. I slacken off when I’m at home. I know that my prose is worthy of being a professional blogger but, no offense, I can’t be bothered and this is my site and I don’t pay myself to blog.

Today was solid considering I hadn’t played the course, my practice round was wet, cold, windy and pointless, it looks like the scoring was tougher at Bright’s Creek so three under isn’t too bad. It would have been nice to make a few putts, I realise everyone complains about not making enough putts but I can’t be responsible for withholding the truth from my readers.

Tomorrow I make all of the putts (that’s just a positive re-enforcement statement just in case Jim Fannin is reading my blog, Jim loves those sorts of statements even though they are grammatically incorrect).

Peace,

Seve

Today is a sad day. Seve Ballesteros passed away. I never had the chance to play with Seve but I got to see him play and practice. When I first played on the European Tour in 97 he was at the end of his brilliance at the young age of 39 but he was still Seve. Its almost impossible to explain how brilliant he was, you have to transport yourself back to a time when 300yd drives were unbelievable and controlling the ball in a strong breeze was nearly impossible, except for Seve.

I guess the way to describe Seve was that every man in the 70’s and 80’s wanted to be either James Bond or Seve
and its goes without saying what every woman wanted. Not just golf followers, everyone knew of Seve, he transcended golf.

My favorite memory is the putt he made at the last hole at St Andrews to win the Open Championship. I would watch the official video over and over and would get goose bumps every time that putt dropped.

Wells Fargo

I had a very hectic Sunday. I played twenty-three holes and finished second in Valdosta, I got off to a slow start and never really threatened and finished with five birdies in the last eight holes for outright second, a good week considering I never really felt on top of my game.

I then had a seven hour drive home to get back in time for the Monday Pro-am, part of my obligation as a sponsor pick. I was knackered to say the least, seventy-two holes in three days.

I spent a little bit of time on the range with Lynchy and have sorted out why my ball striking was a little bit inconsistent. I was setting up towards my heels trying to feel more “over” the ball and that made my arms get too deep. I quick adjustment in my setup and I am feeling “normal” again.

I am excited about playing the Wells Fargo this week. Its one of my favorite events and hopefully I can go one better than last week and get my first PGA Tour win.

One to go

No rest for the wicked. I have just completed my third round, had to complete five holes earlier today after playing thirty-one holes yesterday, and its a quick turnaround to get the final round finished today.

Fifty-four holes in two days is a grind but I’m in a good position and looking forward to having a great afternoon and getting win number two for the year.

I made a fifty footer to close out round three and hoping that is just the start of a putting binge.

Valdosta Rd 1

It only took twenty-five hours to complete round one thanks to a large storm that came through in the morning yesterday.

I managed to play ten holes yesterday and the final eight today. Yesterday was a little scratchy even though I was four under for the ten holes I played. I didn’t strike my iron’s that well but felt really comfortable on the greens. It was encouraging to come back out in the morning and strike the ball great and continue putting well. It all added up to a sixty-six and a great start.

I have the rest of the day off and will start my second round on Saturday morning. It will be a long day with thirty-six holes to be played but the bonus is that I get the whole day to get into a good rhythm and I will be looking forward to taking advantage of that and getting into contention deep into another tournament.
